Fondation Papa Konga
The Papa Konga Foundation is a charity which grants scholarships for the most prestigious universities to deserving candidates from poor families. The goal that CIBEC set for itself in this area is to allow young people who have willpower and talent, and who work hard, not to be limited in their studies by the financial situation of their families. The Papa Konga Foundation offers several thousands of dollars to young people so that they may further their education in posh universities.
This foundation gathers applications from young people all over the world, evaluates them based on signs of their intellectual prowess, such as their transcripts and reports from their teachers. Once it is determined that they are able to successfully pursue the education they want, CIBEC commits to paying all of the associated costs no matter how high until they graduate. This commitment corresponds to the faith we have in the future, but also and especially to the belief that tomorrow’s entrepreneurs are being trained today. So, for CIBEC, this is about taking action today in order to have a positive impact in the lives of the young people of tomorrow, but also in community living.
The foundation is named after Konga who, when young, took risks as expected of the entrepreneur he would become in order to secure his children’s future. If it had come down to parents’ income, Papa Konga would certainly not have had the opportunity to do business and prosper. Defying his modest origins, he did not hesitate to leave his native town to find the opportunity that would allow him to make it in the business world. His deepest belief was that social conditions should not be an insurmountable obstacle for those who are willing to do more to change their daily life. Thus he encouraged his children (biological and extended kin) to pursue their ambitions. It’s this spirit of conquest and determination shared by all successful entrepreneurs that the Papa Konga Foundation seeks to give these young people who want to pursue higher university educations.
